Microplastics and Nanoplastics Summit: Bridging Science, Policy, and Action

The 2027 Microplastics and Nanoplastics Summit, hosted by Nebraska Nanoplastics, convenes researchers, clinicians, policymakers, industry representatives, and community members May 9–12 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The conference brings together the full microplastics and nanoplastics ecosystem to translate research into action on detection, health impacts, environmental exposure, and policy.

Four thematic tracks structure the summit:

• Detection & Characterization: Tools, methods, and technologies for identifying and measuring microplastics and nanoplastics, including emerging methods, standardization challenges, and reference materials.
• Health Impacts & Clinical Practice: Research on exposure, toxicology, human health impacts, and connections to clinical and public health practice—especially timely as reports of microplastics in the human body have elevated this from an environmental to a human health priority.
• Environment, Exposure & Mitigation: Environmental pathways, exposure sources, mitigation strategies, sustainability solutions, and safer alternatives.
• Policy, Communication & Translation: Policy, regulation, public communication, and strategies for translating research into meaningful action.

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentations, posters, or rapid-fire talks. Outstanding work across thematic tracks will be recognized with awards.
